‘I saw the powerful transformation that yoga had on my life’
About me
Emma
I'm naturally a shy person and I never imagined myself as being capable of becoming a Yoga Teacher. But as my practice deepened, my confidence grew. I saw the powerful transformation that yoga has had on my life, and I realised I wanted to share this with others who are unable to access yoga due to lack of accessibility. Through teaching, I feel as if I have found my voice. It’s also made me step out of my comfort zone. I want to create a community of students and friends who believe in the power of yoga, leading to a better, more fulfilled life. I am passionate about the practice of yoga, the connection, the compassion, the awareness that it can, and does, bring me and others every day.
What is your favourite yoga pose?
It's difficult to choose a favourite yoga pose so I will select 3 as they are all very different. Shirshasana (Headstand) to please my inner child and to work on my strength and balance, Camatkarasan (The Wild Thing) - this pose opens up the whole body. It makes me feel very confident, strong as well as graceful. Lastly, Adho Mukha Kapotasana (Sleeping Swan Pose) in Yin hold as it teaches me to calm my mind, to take it slowly, to focus on my breath and surrender to gravity. It is a beautiful opportunity to practice awareness and non-violence towards yourself.
What is your favourite place for a wellness walk?
My favourite place for a wellness walk is a coastal walk. The walk from Scarborough to Cayton Bay, is one I did with my family growing up. Hackness Walk is another favourite of mine as I'm surrounded by trees and a beautiful landscape. Any walk will do as long as it's quiet, has trees, rivers and/or ocean and mostly importantly, with my dogs!
